Once Delivered to Site

Once your order has been delivered to a flat, safe location at the front of your site, we recommend unpacking the doors and windows as soon as possible.

Extended storage of products inside the timber crates—particularly with foam, plastic, or adhesive protection left on the glass—is not recommended and may result in damage. Failure to unpack and store products correctly may void warranty eligibility.

If temporary storage is required, crates must be fully covered and kept completely dry at all times to maintain warranty coverage.

Inspection & Claims

Upon unpacking, all products must be physically inspected while still in their original packaging or crate. Any defects or damage must be documented immediately with clear photographs taken prior to installation.

Claims for defects or damage will not be accepted if:

  • Photos are taken after installation, or

  • The product has been unpacked and installed without prior inspection

Installation of the product constitutes acceptance of its condition at the time of delivery.

Important Note on Handcrafted Steel & Iron Products

Zen iron and steel doors and windows are custom-made and welded by hand. They are not mass-produced or laser-cut products and may exhibit minor cosmetic variations inherent to handcrafted steel fabrication. This can include subtle imperfections in steel finish, welding, fabrication, paint application, or slight bowing due to material rigidity, panel size, weight, and transport conditions.

Each Zen product is unique and one-of-a-kind, and these characteristics fall within acceptable tolerances for bespoke architectural steel and iron products.

Any major defects outside acceptable tolerances, as determined by Zen Doors & Windows, will be addressed in accordance with the Warranty Policy outlined on this page.

Cleaning after Installation

Once your doors and windows have been installed, some dust and residue from transport and installation may be present. Protective clear film applied to the glass during handling should be carefully removed after installation.

Removal of this film may leave light adhesive marks on the glass. These can be safely cleaned using pure alcohol and a clean microfibre cloth, which will also assist in removing any residual silicone marks from the glazing process.

For steel and iron painted finishes, we recommend using a quality car detailing spray applied with a microfibre cloth. Products such as Bowden’s Own Clean Detail are well suited for maintaining the appearance and integrity of the painted steel surfaces.

Regular, gentle cleaning will help preserve the finish and appearance of your Zen doors and windows over time.

Important Surface Protection Notice

Do not, under any circumstances, apply adhesive masking tapes or films directly to steel or iron painted surfaces. Chemicals within adhesives can react with the paint system, making residue extremely difficult to remove and potentially causing permanent etching or marking of the finish.

When protecting doors and windows on an active building site, abrasive materials such as plywood, rigid plastics, or hard coverings must also be avoided. Friction combined with site debris can scratch both painted steel surfaces and glass.

Failure to follow these protection guidelines will void all paint finish warranties.

If temporary protection is required, any adhesive materials or rigid coverings must be fixed to surrounding walls, brickwork, or cladding only, ensuring no direct contact with the steel door or window frames at any time.

Correct site protection is essential to maintaining the appearance, integrity, and long-term performance of your Zen products.

Ongoing maintenance

Zen doors and windows require minimal ongoing maintenance beyond regular care. We recommend cleaning the glass with a quality glass cleaner, dusting as required, and wiping down steel and iron frames using a detailing spray or a damp microfibre cloth.

Routine removal of dust, dirt, and cobwebs will help maintain the appearance and finish of your doors and windows over time.

With simple, consistent care, your Zen products will continue to perform and present as intended for years to come.
