Lead times vary depending on the size, complexity and type of products within your order, as well as current production and international shipping schedules.

Standard Lead Times

Larger Orders — More than 50m² of doors and windows
Approximately 3–4 months from final shop drawing approval to delivery to site.

Smaller Orders — Less than 50m² of doors and windows
Approximately 4–5 months from final shop drawing approval to delivery to site.

October to February Seasonal Lead Times

Orders with shop drawings formally approved between 31 October and 28 February should allow additional time due to factory shutdowns, peak production periods and international freight schedules.

During this period, estimated lead times are:

• Orders over 50m²: approximately 4–5 months
• Orders under 50m²: approximately 5–6 months

Typical Order Timeline

• Quotation: approximately 3–7 business days from receipt of all required plans, schedules and project information
• Draft Shop Drawings: approximately 2–7 business days from receipt of the required order payment
• Shop Drawing Review & Final Approval: approximately 1–3 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the project
• Custom Manufacturing: approximately 12–16 weeks from formal shop drawing approval
• International Shipping to Australia: approximately 3–4 weeks following production completion
• Port Clearance & Delivery to Site: approximately 2–3 weeks following arrival into Australia

All lead times are estimates only and are based on current production capacity, order complexity and international shipping conditions at the time of ordering. Some orders may be completed and delivered earlier than the estimated timeframe.

Zen Doors & Windows delivers Australia-wide and throughout New Zealand.

Our iron doors, steel-framed glass doors and steel windows are securely packed in reinforced crates and shipped directly to site or another nominated delivery location.

For larger or more complex projects, our team can coordinate delivery requirements with your builder, site contact or installer prior to dispatch.

Zen doors and windows are predominantly custom-made, allowing us to manufacture a wide range of sizes and configurations to suit individual architectural requirements.

Maximum recommended sizes vary depending on the product system, opening configuration, glazing specification, hardware and overall weight.

Zen uses a range of architectural steel systems selected according to the design, performance and application requirements of each project.

• Iron Doors: FWA50 galvanised steel panel and tube construction
• FPS50: Slimline cold-rolled galvanised tube steel profile
• W20: Hot-rolled solid steel profile
• W40 Ottostumm: Hot-rolled solid steel profile
• MTS50 Ottostumm: Thermally broken solid steel profile

Our solid hot-rolled profile systems are sourced from specialist European manufacturers, while our FPS50 and FWA50 systems are manufactured using precision-engineered steel profiles and components.

The appropriate profile system will depend on factors including design intent, glazing, thermal performance, opening configuration and project requirements.

Zen doors are substantial architectural products and their final weight varies depending on overall dimensions, profile system, glazing thickness, hardware and configuration.

As a general guide:

• Iron Doors: approximately 80–90kg/m²
• Single-Glazed Steel Doors: approximately 15–20kg/m²
• Double-Glazed Steel Doors: approximately 25–30kg/m²

These figures are indicative only. Larger doors, pivot systems, thicker glazing and specialised hardware may increase the overall product weight.

Appropriate lifting equipment and sufficient personnel should be allowed for when receiving and installing larger products.

Zen Doors & Windows has not undertaken BAL testing or certification for our Iron Entry Doors or steel-framed glass door and window systems. Accordingly, these products should not be represented as BAL-rated unless specifically assessed and approved for the individual project.

Our Iron Entry Doors are predominantly manufactured from 3mm iron sheeting with an iron/steel tube frame and jamb, while our W20 system is manufactured from a solid hot-rolled Swiss steel profile. These steel and iron components are non-combustible materials.

Please note that our standard Iron Entry Doors and P-Tube steel-framed glass doors contain polyurethane within the door core, which is a combustible material. The polyurethane core can be omitted by request where a project requires a construction without this component.

Bushfire requirements vary depending on the project, BAL classification, building design and applicable construction requirements. We recommend confirming suitability with your building surveyor, building certifier or other appropriately qualified consultant before specifying or ordering Zen products for a bushfire-prone site.

Zen Doors & Windows was founded in 2018 and specialises in bespoke architectural iron doors, steel-framed glass doors and steel windows for residential and commercial projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Our manufacturing partners bring more than 20 years of experience in architectural steel fabrication, including hinge doors, pivot doors, sliding and bifold systems, fixed windows and operable steel window systems.

Since its establishment, Zen has focused on combining original design, detailed documentation, precision manufacturing and rigorous quality control to deliver architectural steel systems for high-end projects.

Zen Doors & Windows products are designed in Melbourne, Australia and manufactured in China by our specialist manufacturing partners.

Our W20, W40, MTS50 solid steel profiles are sourced from Ottostumm Switzerland, and our FPS50 slimline steel tube profiles are manufactured in China.

Every Zen door and window is custom-made and undergoes a detailed quality-control process throughout production. Prior to shipment, doors are fully assembled and hung to verify dimensions, alignment, hardware and operating mechanisms. Iron doors and steel-framed glass doors and windows are also video recorded during final production testing.

Once approved, each product is carefully protected and packed in reinforced timber crates with steel framing for international transport.

Quality control is a critical part of the Zen manufacturing process, and every product must pass our final inspection and testing requirements before it is approved for packing and shipment.

We can quote individual statement doors through to complete residential and commercial door and window packages, including hinge, pivot, sliding, barn and bifold doors, fixed windows, casement windows and awning windows.

The more information you provide, the more accurately our team can assess your project and prepare your quotation.

Zen Doors & Windows does not directly provide installation services. We work closely with a network of recommended independent installers in Victoria, New South Wales, ACT, Queensland, South Australia who are experienced with Zen iron doors, steel-framed glass doors and steel windows.

Where required, our recommended installers can also conduct site check measures for a fee and provide an installation estimate.

Most Zen doors and windows are supplied pre-glazed with either single toughened safety glass in 5mm, 6mm, 8mm or 10mm thicknesses, or double glazing comprising 5mm glass + 9mm/12mm/16mm argon-filled spacer + 5mm glass, in accordance with applicable Australian glazing requirements.

For certain projects, products can also be supplied unglazed for glazing on site, including applications such as extra-large fixed windows, curved windows and butt-jointed glazing.

As every project and opening is different, and correct installation is critical to both performance and safety, we recommend using one of our recommended independent installers or an appropriately qualified builder or carpenter to install your Zen door or window.

Your product is supplied with the required door or window hardware and corresponding frame system. Final installation requirements will depend on the construction of the opening and site conditions.

For Iron Entry Doors, two fixing methods are available:

• Pre-drilled mounting holes within the jamb, generally suited to finished openings.
• Welded mounting tabs positioned along the jamb, generally suited to openings where access to the structural framing is available.

Your builder or installer should determine the most appropriate fixing method for your project and site conditions.

Zen iron doors and steel-framed glass doors can be substantial in size and weight, so appropriate lifting equipment and multiple installers may be required for safe handling and installation.

All Zen doors and windows are pre-hung, assembled and operationally tested during production prior to shipment. During installation, the jamb must be correctly positioned, levelled and adjusted to ensure the door or window aligns and operates as intended once installed on site.

Yes. Your builder, carpenter or appropriately qualified installer can install Zen doors and windows.

If your own installer is handling the installation, they should be involved from the shop drawing stage and take responsibility for confirming the site opening, measurements, fixing requirements and any necessary waterproofing provisions before installation.

We strongly recommend that your installer reviews the Zen shop drawings prior to final approval and signs off on the overall manufacturing sizes, opening requirements and proposed fixing method. This helps ensure the products are manufactured to suit the conditions they will be installed into.

Your installer is also responsible for ensuring the opening is correctly prepared, structurally suitable and adequately waterproofed before the doors or windows are installed.

Zen also works with recommended independent installers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and the ACT, and we can provide their details where suitable for your project.

Zen Doors & Windows offers a curated range of architectural colour finishes across our iron doors, steel-framed glass doors and steel windows.

For projects requiring a specific finish, we can also custom colour-match to selected RAL, Dulux, AkzoNobel and PPG colour palettes for an additional fee. Colour matching can typically achieve a very close visual match, generally around 98%, however exact replication can be more difficult where gloss levels, sheen, texture or substrate differ from the original reference.

As colours can vary between screens, textures, lighting conditions and physical samples, we recommend viewing colour samples in person and under different lighting conditions wherever possible before making a final selection.

For individual doors or windows, please provide your preferred design, approximate sizes, configuration and any relevant reference images.

For larger residential or commercial projects, please include your architectural plans, door and window schedules, elevations and energy reports where available. This allows our team to prepare a more accurate and detailed quotation.

Once your order is confirmed and the required payment has been received, we prepare detailed CAD shop drawings based on the approved design, plans and dimensions provided.

These drawings must be carefully reviewed and formally approved by you and, where applicable, your builder, carpenter or installer before manufacture begins. They should confirm the overall product sizes, configuration, fixing requirements and key design details.

Depending on the size and complexity of your order, draft shop drawings are typically issued within 5-7 business days of payment.

Zen Doors & Windows provides a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, subject to correct installation, handling, storage and maintenance.

Our current warranty provides:

• 10 years on paint and coating
• 6 years on glass
• 5 years on structural and mechanical components, including frames, hardware, welds and components

Our manufacturer’s warranty is provided in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Products ordered prior to 1 June 2026 remain subject to the warranty period applicable at the time of order.
