The Moonee Ponds Brick House demonstrates how contemporary steel doors and windows can be integrated into a traditional masonry residence with clarity and respect. Featuring Zen FPS50 Slimline Tube Steel Hinge Doors, Fixed Windows, and W40 Solid Hot Rolled Steel Casement Windows, the project balances heritage character with refined modern detailing.
At the arched entry, the FPS50 slimline steel doors introduce transparency and vertical rhythm within the solid brick geometry, allowing natural light to animate the threshold while maintaining the architectural weight of the façade. The slender steel profiles echo the proportions of traditional steel windows, ensuring the new elements feel authentic to the home’s period language.
Throughout the residence, fixed steel windows and operable W40 solid hot rolled steel casements provide depth, shadow, and ventilation, sitting confidently within the brick reveals. The more substantial W40 profile complements the mass and texture of the masonry, while the finer FPS50 elements introduce visual lightness at key openings.
Together, the steel systems establish a cohesive architectural dialogue between old and new—preserving the integrity of the original brick house while elevating it through precision-crafted steel glazing.
